Kale is sold in abundance here and is available all year round. Most of the time I just boil or steam it. It didn’t really occur to me to stir-fry it until I spoke to one of my Taiwanese friend. Whilst shopping, she mentioned to me that she hates kale and finds it really difficult to eat, and it was only then that I thought, that maybe kale is not a sought after vegetable in Asia.
So I decided to buy a bag of kale to take home and I came up with stir-fried kale with chilli and garlic. I fried the garlic first then I added the kale to the wok. Stir-fried it for a few minutes as it doesn’t really take long to cook. Add a bit of soy sauce and then some chilli flakes. Before serving I just added a few drops of sesame oil and voila there you have it – stir-fried kale with chilli and garlic.
- 1 tsp of olive oil
- 1 garlic (sliced)
- 200g bag of Kale
- ¼ tsp of crushed chilli
- 1 tsp of soy sauce
- few drops of sesame oil
- Heat the oil and add the garlic and fry for a minute
- Add the Kale, stir fry for a few minutes, add the soy sauce and then the crushed chillies
- Take off heat when the Kale turns a bright green, add the sesame oil and serve.
02. You can add fresh chillies instead of crushed chillies
